AT OUR PREVIOUS SOCIETY MEETING we certainly all enjoyed the beautiful slides our own Mary Smith showed us of the mountains she and Earl visited last year in the Southwestern United States..A large crowd sat patiently through the problems we had getting the projection going until a young lad by the name of Boo Ryan showed up and knew the right buttons to push. Thank you Boo. You saved the evening.

MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT
Renaissance is happening.: after weather related delay the excavation started and was completed .As we currently stand the basement footing, walls and first main floor walls are standing. The second floor walls are being scheduled to be roughed in by next week. That part of the Renaissance is proceeding very nicely. In regard to the existing museum we encountered some leaks in the basement and the office upstairs. In the process of determining where the leaks were coming from, we discovered the cause of the leaking. We now repaired the cracks and are rebuilding the basement. Simultaneously we discovered a bit of asbestos in the ceiling. This precipitated closing the second floor to the public. Holes were cut and all insulation removed. We are now replacing the insulation and within the next two weeks the gyprock should be finished. By the end of August the second floor is scheduled to be completed. The staff at the museum has done a phantastic job working in the confusion. The office had been removed to the GuessWhat room on the main floor. We are working on the signage for Rte. 331 and once the major part of the construction is completed, we will be in the position to commence fixing up the exterior of the buildings and the site. Theses are very exiting times and we are pleased with the progress to date.We have taken steps to ensure we will not encounter any further water problems inside both the old and new building. We thank everyone for their support and patience during the construction phase. We trust everyone is having a great summer and look forward to seeing you at the concert on the 20th and the first LaHave River Folk Festival on September 2. Any questions: please call the museum or any of the directors.
